Resumo: Este artigo explora as representações, na literatura sacra do século XVII, sobre sereias e mulheres serpentes e suas relações com a apropriação que é feita pelas camadas letradas, do acervo folclórico das camadas populares.AbstractThis article explores the literary representations of mermaids and snakewomen, during the XVIIth century and its relationship with the use that is made by the literate elite groups of the popular traditional culture.
