Craftswomen from “crafts pots” to “crafts dolls”: the economy, domestic space and ceramics technics in changing at the Jequitinhonha region

Resumo: Rural communities conquered large tracts of land in Brazil. In some regions it is preserved in others extinguished according the internal economic dinamics. Certainly, in the constitution of rudimentary technic of ceramics there is a long way of intelligent knowledge and expertise in transformation. The communities of peasants-ceramists from the Valley Jequitinhonha [Minas Gerais] are suffering with the abandonment of the traditional heritage. This is threatening the regional culture, specially the local craftswomen with their "crafts pots" and "crafts dolls". That is what we intend to discuss in this Article.

That is what we intend to discuss in this Article.Comunidades rurais caboclas conquistaram enormes extensões de terra no Brasil, preservando-se em algumas regiões, extinguindo-se em outras, seja em decorrência do avanço da grande economia envolvente, seja em virtude de dinâmicas internas. De certo, na constituição da técnica da cerâmica mais rudimentar existe um longo caminho de conhecimento inteligente e um conhecimento em transformação, na atualidade, em face dos novos desafios da arte figurativa. As comunidades de camponeses-ceramistas do vale do Jequitinhonha [Minas Gerais] sofrem com o progressivo abandono dos fogões a lenha e do vasilhame de barro, e sua gradual substituição, na cozinha sertaneja, por fôrmas, baixelas, panelas e fogões em metal, o que enseja a falência do ofício tradicional das paneleiras como também das bonequeiras da região, ou, quando não, sua transformação, concomitante à dos objetos que produz.
