Cultural landscapes and local development: High fashion or prêt a porter?

Resumo: | This paper is divided into three parts. The first defends that the antiquity and the appreciation for it, is a modern invention. This recognition carried from a preservation of monumental pieces to a larger vision of heritage, the cultural landscape. Thereafter, we will try to clarify the concept of cultural landscape, and the concept of heritage parks as a vehicle for development. In the second part the focus of this paper will be the relationship of both concepts in the postmodern condition, possible risks of thematization and universal recognition figures, as well as the implications from certain management tools. From the analysis of a hundred projects and proposals spread over several continents is interesting to note some operational lessons. But more than the recognition of singularity of certain areas, the specificity of projects, or the most appropriate mechanisms for management, the conclusion emphasizes that is relevant and urgent to study the challenges posed by this rich conception of territory and landscape planning discipline. |

En la primera se defiende que la antigüedad y el aprecio que se siente por ella, es un invento moderno. Dicho reconocimiento llevó de una exclusiva preservación de piezas monumentales a una visión más amplia de patrimonio, el paisaje cultural. A partir de ahí se intentará aclarar el concepto de paisaje cultural y el de parques patrimoniales, instrumento de desarrollo de los mismos. En la segunda parte se valorará la relación de ambos con la condición postmoderna, los posibles riesgos de la tematización y de las figuras de reconocimiento universal, así como de las implicaciones de determinados instrumentos y figuras de gestión. Del análisis de un centenar de proyectos y propuestas repartidas en varios continentes interesa destacar algunas lecciones operativas. Pero más allá del reconocimiento de la singularidad de determinados ámbitos, de la especificidad de los proyectos de intervención en los mismos, o de los mecanismos más adecuados para su gestión, lo que resulta relevante y urgente abordar son los retos que plantea esta enriquecedora concepción del territorio y del paisaje a la disciplina urbanística.Este texto se divide en tres partes.
