Resumo: | The growth of cities in Brazil have been intense in recent decades and requires corrective measures and territorial planning. The important tool Geotechnical Engineering is the mapping because it is being used by municipal managers, so that the zoning can be done in a conscious and planned manner, leading to urban sprawl and safe areas with adequate infrastructure. This research presents the preliminary geotechnical mapping of the Municipality of Gaspar (SC) for a preliminary geotechnical mapping, emphasizing the construction area of the new ring road on the south boundary, where a new highway will be built because the city has been constant problems with traffic jam. The study resulted in the formation of a geotechnical mapping based on geological and pedological mapping; therefore, a geotechnical map was generated by using ArcGis 10. The purpose of this map, as well as the purpose of the work is to organize the territory for future generations. |

Uma significativa ferramenta da Engenharia é o mapeamento geotécnico, pois está a ser empregada pelos gestores municipais para que o zoneamento urbano possa ser efetuado de modo consciente e planejado, dirigindo a expansão urbana para áreas seguras e com infraestrutura adequada. Este artigo apresenta uma análise geológica e pedológica do Munícipio de Gaspar (SC) para a formação de um mapeamento geotécnico preliminar, dando ênfase a área de construção do novo anel rodoviário no contorno sul, aonde será construída uma nova rodovia. O estudo resultou na construção de um mapeamento geotécnico com base em um mapeamento geológico e pedológico, e aplicação do SIG ArcGis10. Realizou uma análise das unidades geológicas e pedológicas a partir de 8 mapas fornecidos pelo IBGE, após o cruzamento dos temas geologia, pedologia foi obtido o Mapa Preliminar de Unidades Geotécnicas com unidades as quais foram definidas de acordo com suas características.
