Rustic architecture in the Ramos de Azevedo job: the São Vicente farm, in Campinas [SP], Brazil

Resumo: The engineer-architect Francisco de Paula Ramos de Azevedo produced an essentially urban work which received, in recent years, significant attention by the architecture’s historians. However, the technical production of professional also has a rural dimension, such as the case of the former coffeecomplex of the “Fazenda São Vicente”, Campinas [State of São Paulo], which was the object of a restoration completed in 2006 and is also the object of this paper. It’s evidenced the relationships between what would it be an urban architecture and a rural architecture, highlighting how the technical skills are captured by social agents in the context of a bourgeois culture in the peak of the economiccoffee cycle in the State of São Paulo.
