Intelligent tutoring systems and adaptation of teaching to user learning profiles

Resumo: In the 21st Century, the demand for teaching and learning mediated by digital technology has grown, specially adjusted to the learning profiles of each person, as well as to the skills and competences needed in contemporary social relations. Thus, considering that it is necessary to reflect on this imperative, this article aims to describe the evolution process and the basic operating requirements of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (STI). To achieve this, the bibliographic research method was used, having as main databases the Bank of Theses and Dissertations of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personal (CAPES) and the Google Scholar and Scientific Electronic Library Online platforms (SCIELO). The sources selected for this study were published between 1988 and 2017, in Portuguese and Spanish, totaling two theses, two book chapters, three articles, three dissertations and a monograph. As a result, the text presents a set of explanatory information about the evolution of ITS, with emphasis on the architecture and basic functioning of these computer systems. In the end, Hoz's (1988) concept of personalized education is presented and six founding principles are discussed, which can expand the ability to personalize teaching by intelligent tutoring systems.

Así, considerando que es necesario reflexionar sobre este imperativo, ese artículo tiene como objetivo describir el proceso de evolución y los requisitos operativos básicos de los Sistemas de Tutoría Inteligente (STI). Para alcanzarlo, se utilizó el método de investigación bibliográfica, donde la principal  base de dados fue el Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) y las plataformas Google Académico y Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). Las fuentes seleccionadas para este estudio fueron publicadas entre 1988 y 2017, en portugués y español, totalizando dos tesis, dos capítulos de libros, tres artículos, tres disertaciones y una monografía. Como resultado, el texto presenta un conjunto de informaciones explicativas sobre la evolución del ITS con énfasis en la arquitectura y funcionamiento básico de estos sistemas informáticos. Al final, se presenta el concepto de educación personalizada de Hoz (1988) y se discuten seis principios fundamentales, que pueden ampliar la capacidad de personalizar la enseñanza mediante sistemas de tutoría inteligentes.No Século XXI, cresceu a demanda por ensino e aprendizagem mediados por tecnologia digital, especialmente ajustados aos perfis de aprendizagem de cada pessoa e às habilidades e às competências necessárias nas relações sociais contemporâneas. Assim, considerando que é necessário refletir sobre esse imperativo, este artigo tem o objetivo de descrever o processo de evolução e os requisitos básicos de funcionamento dos Sistemas Tutores Inteligentes (STI). Para alcançá-lo, empregou-se o método de pesquisa bibliográfica, tendo como principais bases de dados o Banco de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) e as plataformas do Google Acadêmico e da Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). As fontes selecionadas para este estudo foram publicadas entre os anos de 1988 e 2017, nos idiomas português e espanhol, totalizando duas teses, dois capítulos de livros, três artigos, três dissertações e uma monografia. Como resultado, o texto apresenta um conjunto de informações explicitadoras sobre a evolução dos STI, com destaque para a arquitetura e o funcionamento básico desses sistemas informáticos.
