Intergenerational interactions: conceptions of an academic group on human aging and its implications

Resumo: | The present research is the result of an extension project developed in a Long Stay Institution for the Elderly (LSIEs) located in the city of Bagé, state of Rio Grande do Sul, which has as general objective to reflect on the approach in between of young students and residents of the elderly, from the monitoring of activities in these institutions. In order to do this, to soften and understand this reality, we sought to point out some paths developed by a group of academics from the Pedagogy course of a public university, volunteers/participants of said project. Therefore, this research was characterized as a qualitative research, whose data were collected during a year, using as instrument a reflexive diary produced by the students. The interventions occurred two times a week, with two-hour sessions each, with the accompaniment of activities with elderly residents. The activities were varied, such as: music, reading, rhythmic, cognitive, motor, various body practices, many with the use of digital technological resources. After the sessions the students in order to expose their feelings and perceptions regarding that reality, produced reflective diary. For purposes of analysis, excerpts from the diaries of four academics, out of a total of twelve, were selected to develop the activities. In this research, we highlight the relevant participation of academics in actions such as this one, given that it constitutes a space for intervention for intergenerational work and for the deconstruction of prejudices regarding the aging process and its limitations, resulting in benefits for participants. |

In this research, we highlight the relevant participation of academics in actions such as this one, given that it constitutes a space for intervention for intergenerational work and for the deconstruction of prejudices regarding the aging process and its limitations, resulting in benefits for participants.La presente investigación es resultado de un proyecto de extensión desarrollado en una Institución de Larga permanencia para ancianos (ILPI), ubicada en la ciudad de Bagé-RS, la cual trae como objetivo general reflexionar sobre la aproximación de jóvenes estudiantes y residentes de la tercera edad, a partir del seguimiento de actividades en esas instituciones. Para ello, se buscó apuntar algunos caminos que un grupo de académicos del curso de Pedagogía de una universidad pública, voluntarios / participantes de dicho proyecto, siguió para amenizar y constatar tal realidad. Para ello, esta investigación se caracterizó como una investigación cualitativa, cuyos datos fueron recolectados durante un año y, como instrumento, se utilizó el diario reflexivo producido por los estudiantes. Las intervenciones ocurrieron semanalmente, con frecuencia de dos veces, con sesiones de dos horas de duración, en seguimiento de actividades junto a los ancianos residentes. Las actividades fueron variadas, tales como: canciones, lecturas, rítmicas, cognitivas, motoras, prácticas corporales diversas, muchas con el uso de recursos tecnológicos digitales. Después de las sesiones, los estudiantes elaboraron diarios de campo reflexivos, a fin de exponer sus sentimientos y percepciones en relación a aquella realidad. Para fines de análisis, se seleccionaron extractos de los diarios de cuatro académicos, de un total de doce, registrados en la ILPI, para desarrollar las actividades. A presente investigação é resultante de um projeto de extensão desenvolvido em uma Instituição de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIs), localizada na cidade de Bagé-RS e traz como objetivo geral reflexionar sobre o preconceito e a desigualdade social na terceira idade, a partir dos atravessamentos e problemáticas que a compõem. Tendo em vista as evidências com relação ao preconceito, buscou-se, ainda, apontar os caminhos que um grupo de acadêmicos do curso de Pedagogia de uma universidade pública, voluntários, participantes do referido projeto, seguiu para amenizar e constatar tal realidade. Para tanto, a presente investigação caracterizou-se como uma pesquisa qualitativa, cujos dados foram coletados durante seis meses e, como instrumento, utilizaram-se os diários reflexivos produzidos pelos acadêmicos voluntários. Para fins de análise, foram selecionadas trechos dos diários reflexivos de três acadêmicos.
