Resumo: The aim of this longitudinal experimental study was to evaluate the interference of an educational approach on the pattern of smartphone use and internet addiction by health masters students. The sample consisted of 18 master's students in collective health. Were used 01 smartphone application (UBhind) that checked the usage pattern of this; and 02 questionnaires: economic partner and the Internet Addiction Test (IAT). Data were collected in the classroom at 3 different times (T0, T1, T2). At the beginning of the T1 class module, there was an educational approach about the use of the smartphone, risk of internet dependence and harm. Descriptive analyzes were performed for variables and generalized linear models for repeated measures over time, significance level of 5%. An average smartphone usage of 4.4h (T0), 4h (T1) and 4.5h (T2) was found; 92.3-fold check frequency (T0), 86.3 (T1) and 90.5 (T2); peak use at night; and on smartphones (Android), WhatsApp was the most widely used app, accounting for 45% of the time on the smartphone, while minimum internet usage accounted for 75%. Internet addiction test increased from 42.9% (T0) to 50% (T2) of users without risk of addiction, but the percentage of problem users (medium and high risk) remained at 14.3%. It was concluded that the educational approach was not enough to change the pattern of smartphone use or reduce the number of problematic internet users

Universidade Estadual de Campinas2021-11-18info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/article/view/865817410.20396/etd.v23i4.8658174ETD - Educação Temática Digital; v. 23 n. 4 (2021): Experiências, aprendizagens, narrativas; 842-861ETD - Educação Temática Digital; Vol. 23 No. 4 (2021): Experiences, learning, narratives; 842-861ETD - Educação Temática Digital; Vol. 23 Núm. 4 (2021): Experiencias, aprendizajes, narrativas; 842-8611676-2592reponame:ETD - Educação Temática Digitalinstname:Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)instacron:UNICAMPporhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/article/view/8658174/27530Brazil; ContemporaryBrasil; ContemporáneoBrasil; ContemporâneoCopyright (c) 2021 ETD - Educação Temática Digitalhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLoureiro, Luciana DrumondSouza, Luciane Zanin de Flório, Flávia Martão 2022-07-15T16:40:30Zoai:ojs.periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br:article/8658174Revistahttp://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etdPUBhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/etd/oaippec@unicamp.br||acdiasjr@gmail.com||etd@unicamp.br|| gilbfe@unicamp.br1676-25921676-2592opendoar:2022-11-08T14:25:34.583050ETD - Educação Temática Digital - Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP)false
