Restoration of the facade of the Palace of Justice of Paraná: case-study in historical asset

Restoration-oriented designs aim to restore the building's potential unity, not interfering with the original asset's historical and artistic features. In architecture, they emerge as a proposal to preserve socio-cultural goods and values; besides, they contribute to environmental preservation. Thus, the techniques employed during the restorations process have specificities. This paper aims to present a case study of the restorations process of a facade of a historical building in the South of Brazil. It is about a heritage building listed by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage – IPHAN, the Justice Palace of Parana. This article is limited to the facade of the building, focusing on restoring the ceramics insert coating. The methodology presents a survey of pathologies, outcome problems and possible solutions. The results show the verification of the suggested methods, which involves actions and concepts of restorations, besides the validations of the perfume processes, attesting the restoration of the similar state of the original to the marvelous architectural work. It is pointed out that, based on the improvements of the techniques employed, it is possible to formulate a direction for works of this bias.
