Intertwining of ethnomathematic thought and history of mathematics: possibilities for a pedagogical practice

Resumo: This paper has the objective to explain the possibility of History of Mathematics insertion in the ethnomathematics field, specifically in the Trigonometric teaching and learning processes present on the right triangle. The subject of this research – a group of second year of High School students of a private school in Caxias do Sul, RS – brought about the emergency of a qualitative research, having as data collection instruments, documental research, analysis of information obtained through reports and experiences, and direct classroom observation. The pedagogical practice used with this group has made the teaching and learning process more interactive, constructive and participatory, provoking the involvement of the students with the research. Through investigation, the students were able to experience relationship between school and non-school mathematics, in special those ones used in “civil construction world”.

Os sujeitos da pesquisa – uma turma do segundo ano do Ensino Médio de uma escola particular de Caxias do Sul, RS – propiciaram a emergência de uma pesquisa qualitativa, tendo como instrumentos de coleta dos dados pesquisa documental, análise das informações obtidas por meio de relatos e experiências e observações feitas em sala de aula. A prática pedagógica efetivada com a referida turma evidenciou que a abordagem escolhida tornou o processo de ensino e aprendizagem mais interativo, construtivo e participativo, provocando o envolvimento dos alunos com a pesquisa.
