The relationship between the strategies used in the game of rules “Quarto” and the resolution of mathematical content problems

Resumo: This study has investigated whether the promotion of educational sessions with "Quarto" – agame of rules – could favor to the development of new and better ways of thinking of solutions forproblems with mathematical content. In order to do so, we have worked with twenty-one high schoolstudents, seven from each of the three high school grades, belonging to two private schools in the cityof Campinas-SP. Data was collected from the completion of a mathematics knowledge test, fromeducational sessions using the game “Quarto” and from the retaking of the mathematics knowledgetest. The problems were taken from Enem, educational sessions were conducted via computer and allthe steps were carried out individually. The results were analyzed qualitatively, with the researcher´sparticipation and observation, and also quantitatively, using the Student's T test, which led us toconclude that the research question can be answered affirmatively.

Para tanto, contou com a participação de 21 alunos do Ensino Médio, 7 de cada uma das 3 séries pertencentes a 2 escolas da rede particular da cidade de Campinas-SP. Os dados foram recolhidos a partir da realização de uma prova de conhecimentos matemáticos, de sessões de intervenção com o jogo Quarto e da reaplicação da prova de conhecimentos matemáticos. Os problemas foram escolhidos dentre as questões do Enem, as sessões de intervenção foram realizadas por meio computacional e todas as etapas foram realizadas de forma individual.
