This article intends to analyze the references about black and indigenous populations in the narrative entitled Political Riots or history of the main political events in the Province of Pará from the year 1821 to 1835. Elaborated at the end of the 19th century by the historian and politician Domingos Antônio Raiol (Barão de Guajará), this study characterized by the description of a series of political and social conflicts that occurred in Grão-Pará, between the decades of 1820 and 1830, and transformed, throughout the 20th century, into a central source for the history of Cabanagem, was also marked by countless scientific references aimed at Indians and blacks. By analyzing these perceptions, which value racial and civilizing conceptions, this study aims to enter a little-known and thought-provoking path in this book and in the thought of its author.
