Resumo: This article presents, briefly, the role of Brazilian sociologist and historian Oliveira Vianna in the construction of concepts about race relations in Brazil, considering him, alongside other formulators of a racial discourse, as a crucial author in the construction of identity Brazilian national. To this end, we will seek to establish a critical reading of Oliveira Vianna's work, understanding that although it is not possible to encompass the totality of his thought, one can at least launch hypotheses about the perspectives of this intellectual. For this analysis we used the theories proposed by Karl Mannheim and Antonio Gramsci, looking at it in the light of the sociology of knowledge.

Para ello, buscaremos establecer una lectura crítica de la obra de Oliveira Vianna, entendiendo que si bien no es posible abarcar la totalidad de su pensamiento, al menos se pueden lanzar hipótesis sobre las perspectivas de este intelectual. Para este análisis utilizamos las teorías propuestas por Karl Mannheim y Antonio Gramsci, mirándolo a la luz de la sociología del conocimiento.O presente artigo apresenta, de maneira sucinta, o papel do sociólogo e historiador brasileiro Oliveira Vianna na construção de conceitos acerca das relações raciais no Brasil, considerando-o, ao lado de outros formuladores de um discurso racial, como autor crucial na construção da identidade nacional brasileira. Para tanto, buscaremos estabelecer uma leitura crítica da obra de Oliveira Vianna, compreendendo que embora não seja possível abarcar a totalidade do seu pensamento, pode-se, ao menos, lançar hipóteses sobre as perspectivas desse intelectual.
