Esta modalidade ganhou força durante os anos de 1990, e hoje em dia, pode ser considerada a maior manifestação de tradução de fãs (DIAZ-CINTAS, J; SANCHES, P. 2006). Com a ascensão do fansubbing, é difícil não pensar em como fica o mercado para os tradutores-legendistas, e quais são as implicações e consequências desses dois tipos de legenda. O humor também se mostra como um campo de interesse nos estudos da tradução, já que também é condicionado pela interpretação. Muitos autores já tentaram o definir, mas todos chegaram à conclusão que é difícil achar uma definição do humor em seu sentido geral, sendo necessário estudá-lo por categorias (CHIARO, D. 1992; ATTARDO, S. 1994). Há ainda autores que afirmem que a tradução do humor é algo estimulante e uma das tarefas mais árduas (ROSAS, 2002; LUQUE, 2000). Na tradução de humor para legendagem, o tradutor-legendista precisa utilizar o tempo e espaço limitado de maneira otimizada, a fim de manter o objetivo principal na tradução (SPANAKAKI, 2007). O tradutor deve se preocupar com ainda mais obstáculos e fazer o possível para que o espectador da língua traduzida ria também, assim como o espectador da língua de partida. A tradução do humor é vista então dentro das perspectivas funcionalistas (NORD, 2005, 2006) ao tomarmos o riso como seu escopo. Dentro do funcionalismo o tradutor apresenta papel de destaque, assim, surgem as questões acerca da (in)visibilidade do tradutor e o uso das estratégias de domesticação e estrangeirização (VENUTI, 1995;1998) na tradução de humor para legendas. Nosso objetivo foi descrever e analisar as estratégias e soluções utilizadas pelos tradutores e o papel de cada um em suas respectivas tarefas, comparando os resultados e as diferenças estruturais que dele resultaram. A metodologia usada foi o cotejo, comparação e análise das produções, com a problematização do papel e considerações sobre a visibilidade de quem traduz e reflexão sobre o grande enigma que é o humor dentro da tradução. O objeto de estudo são alguns episódios do seriado de comédia norte-americano How I Met Your Mother. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que é necessário utilizar da estratégia de domesticação para alcançar o escopo da tradução de humor e que, realmente, sua definição é algo desafiador. Em relação à visibilidade, em ambas as traduções o tradutor é visível, a diferença reside no fato do reconhecimento, da remuneração e da liberdade de escolhaAbstract: This work falls within the field of Audiovisual Translation, and specifically approaches subtitling, in both official subtitling and fansubbing, a group of fans that subtitles and distributes free and online subtitles. This kind of translation emerged during the years of 1990 and, nowadays, can be considered the biggest manifestation of fan¿s translation (DIAZ-CINTAS, J; SANCHES, P. 2006). With the raising of fansubbing it¿s difficult not to think about the market for professional subtitlers and what are the implications and consequences of both subtitles. Humor is also an interesting field in Translation Studies, once is conditioned by interpretation too. Many authors have tried to define it, but all have come to the conclusion that is hard to find a definition of humor in its general meaning, it is necessary to study it by categories (CHIARO, D. 1992; ATTARDO, S. 1994). There are some authors who say translating humor is stimulating and it is one of the most hard tasks (ROSAS, 2002; LUQUE, 2000). When it comes on translating humor in subtitling, the subtitler needs to use the limited space and time in an optimal way, in order to virtually retain the meaning effect in the subtitle translation (SPANAKAKI, 2007). The translator has to worry about even more obstacles and do everything that is possible so the viewer in the target language laugh the same way the viewer in the source language did. Humor translation can be seeing inside the functionalism (NORD, 2005, 2006) when we take the laugh as its skopos. Inside functionalism the translator has an important roll, therefore, the questions about the translator¿s invisibility appear and the use of domestication and foreignization strategies (VENUTI, 1995; 1998) in the translation of humor for subtitles too. Our objective is to describe and analyze the strategies and resolutions used by the translators and the role of each translator in their respective task. The methodology adopted is the productions collation, comparison and analyzes, with the problematization of translator¿s role and considerations about translator¿s visibility and reflection on the mystery that humor inside translation is. Our study object is a group of episodes of How I Met Your Mother. The results achieved showed that it is necessary to use the domestication strategy to fulfil the skopos of the translation of humor and, indeed, its definition is very challenging.
