Resumo:  We propose to study the process of the identity constitution of the indigenous subject articulated in the Cacique Seattle’s Letter (1854) to apprehend the sense effects of intolerance and prejudice. Thus, it is necessary a critique of the study of the relations of knowledge/power (Foucault, 2014), discursive-deconstructive perspective of Guerra (2017) and the conception of Geoistoric place of Nolasco (2013). Our hypothesis is that the Letter, examined as a monument, makes possible to exhale local stories and veiled memories that silenced by the hegemonic knowledge. The analytical gesture allows us to say that the indigenous does not fit what is expected by the "white man" in relation to the land and the way of living, resulting the disqualification of the indigenous knowledge.

Universidade Estadual de Campinas2019-11-21info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/rua/article/view/865754110.20396/rua.v25i2.8657541RUA; Vol. 25 No. 2 (2019): nov; 571-592RUA; v. 25 n. 2 (2019): nov; 571-5922179-99111413-2109reponame:Rua (Campinas.
