Resumo: | The following discussion places the analytical-discursive status of smell at the center of the debate. This issue is concentrated in the movie Parasite, the one chosen for the analysis in this article. I try to demonstrate that, using the procedures of materialist Discourse Analysis, it is possible to listen to the function of smell in its material imbrication with the body, the space, the language and the gesture. In this process, there is also a dialogue with the literary work by Franz Kafka, The Metamorphosis. This becomes very productive, as the dialogue brings to the discussion symbolic relations, which are able of capturing subjects in ruptures, absences and humiliations. |

Universidade Estadual de Campinas2020-11-09info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionTextoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/otherapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.sbu.unicamp.br/ojs/index.php/rua/article/view/866200510.20396/rua.v26i2.8662005RUA; Vol. 26 No. 2 (2020): nov; 711-727RUA; v. 26 n. 2 (2020): nov; 711-7272179-99111413-2109reponame:Rua (Campinas.
