Interrogating data according to the theory of enunciative operations: the case of “acabar” in Brazilian Portuguese

Resumo: This study looks into the methodology developed by the Theory of Enunciative Operations to deal with the meaning-building process of morpholexical units. By analyzing the lexeme “acabar” in Brazilian Portuguese, we aim at showing how examining the data displaces important theoretical problems in the field of semantics. This examination is driven by the search for invariant principles that order the empirical form of utterances and the variation of units. We also intend to analyze the consequences of these principles for the understanding of how the predicative relation is organized.

Propomo-nos a mostrar, por meio da análise do lexema acabar em PB, de que modo a problematização dos dados motivada pela busca de princípios invariantes que ordenam a forma empírica dos enunciados e a variação das unidades desloca problemas de ordem teórica caros ao campo da semântica.
