The constitutive silence of the squatter: a historic destiny

Resumo: This text aims to materialize a gesture of interpretation in which I seek to embody the historical/discursive event of the book: The forms of silence in the movement of the senses, by researcher Eni Orlandi, who turns 30. To reach the proposed objective, I cut out the event of the “class” of squatters, resuming and expanding studies that I carried out during the Master's, when analyzing newspapers from the 70's, in the middle of the military dictatorship, which published the Pastoral Letter: A Church of the Amazon in conflict with large estates and social marginalization, by Dom Pedro Casaldáliga (In memorian). This bishop was affiliated with Liberation Theology and rooted in the prelature of São Félix do Araguaia. In the end, I claim that the word squatter does not designate a class of subjects in this history, but determines their social place. Thus, I respond to the invitation of Prof. Freda Indursky by subscribing to this special publication space. Keywords: Silence; Squatters; Pastoral Letter; Earth.

Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, recorto o acontecimento da “classe” de posseiros, retomando e ampliando estudos que realizei durante o Mestrado, ao analisar jornais da década de 70, em plena ditadura militar, que publicaram a Carta Pastoral: Uma Igreja da Amazônia em conflito com o latifúndio e a marginalização social, de Dom Pedro Casaldáliga (In memorian). Esse bispo era filiado à Teologia da Libertação e radicado na prelazia de São Félix do Araguaia-MT. Ao final, afirmo que a palavra posseiro não designa uma classe de sujeitos nessa história, mas determina o seu lugar social.
