Gender theories and feminisms in brazilian archeology: from sexual dimorphism to queer spring

Resumo: In this article we will discuss how the notion of gender has been worked on in Brazilian archeology, from the history and major themes of our discipline. Our approach runs through pre-colonial archeology, in research ranging from bioarchaeology to archeology of symbolism (rock art, pottery, etc.); historical archeology, especially the relation of women and the material world. We conclude the discussion with a more recent picture, showing the gender debate, queer theory and theoretical and militant feminism. And since these discussions go beyond the interpretative support for human relations in the past, they are fundamental to the understanding and questioning of power and work relations present in professional and academic archeology.

Nuestro enfoque atraviesa la arqueología precolonial, en investigaciones que van desde la bioarqueología hasta la arqueología del simbolismo (arte rupestre, cerámica, etc.); la arqueología histórica, en especial de la relación de las mujeres y el mundo material. Finalizamos la discusión con un panorama más reciente, mostrando el debate de género, teoría queer y el feminismo teórico y militante. Y como estas discusiones van más allá del soporte interpretativo para las relaciones humanas en el pasado, pero son fundamentales para el entendimiento y cuestionamiento de relaciones de poder y trabajo presentes en la arqueología profesional y académica.Nesse artigo discutiremos como a noção de gênero vem sendo trabalhada na arqueologia brasileira, a partir da história e de grandes temas de nossa disciplina. Nosso enfoque perpassa a arqueologia pré-colonial, em pesquisas que vão da bioarqueologia até arqueologia do simbolismo (arte rupestre, cerâmica, etc.); a arqueologia histórica, em especial da relação das mulheres e o mundo material. Finalizamos a discussão com um panorama mais recente, mostrando o debate de gênero, teoria queer e o feminismo teórico emilitante.
