Possibilities of violence in Florianópolis by Cristovão Tezza (about the civil-military dictatorship in his first novels)

Starting from three novels by Cristovão Tezza that take place in Florianópolis, the article discusses a displacement from external violence to its internalization in the subject. For this, we begin by discussing, through the Literature and Society key, the place that the civil-military dictatorship occupies in the author's first novels, and how this process of external violence exerted by the military (in Ensaio da Paixão) reverberates in the traumatic repetition by part of the subject (in Aventuras Provisórias), resulting, finally, in an internalization of violence that starts to rely on the threats of the past, through memory (in O Fantasma da Infância). We conclude with a brief comment on the place of Florianópolis in the author's aesthetic formulation, pointing out how, from the works that relate the 1964 dictatorship to the city, they constitute an aesthetic problem that continues to be developed in his current literature.
