The Bento Cego’s memory and the motivations of the Paranista movement

Resumo: Bento Cego was a troubadour from the second half of the 19th century born on the coast of the state of Paraná. Historical records dating from the beginning of the 20th century show a first attempt to register and enhance his work as a troubadour circumscribed to the beginning of the Paranismo movement. This paper revisits these records and presents new elements to discuss the relationship between Bento Cego and the Paranismo movement. We did a discussion and review of written historical records. From these analyzes, we note the portrait of the historical figure of Bento Cego compared to the Greek poet Homer and the motivations that resulted in the creation of the Paranismo movement.

En este artículo revisamos estos registros y presentamos nuevos elementos sobre la discusión de la relación entre Bento Cego y el movimiento paranismo. Hicimos una discusión y revisión de registros históricos escritos. De estos análisis destacamos la presentación de la figura histórica de Bento Cego frente al poeta griego Homero y las motivaciones que dieron lugar a la creación del movimiento paranismo.Bento Cego foi um trovador nascido no litoral do estado do Paraná, cuja vida e produção cultural recortaram a segunda metade do século XIX. Registros históricos datados do início do século XX mostram uma primeira tentativa de registro e enaltecimento de seu trabalho de trovador, circunscrito aos primeiros passos do chamado movimento paranista. Neste trabalho, procuramos revisitar esses registros e apresentar novos elementos sobre a discussão da relação entre Bento Cego e o movimento paranista. A metodologia consistiu na discussão e revisão de registros históricos escritos e revisões bibliográficas interligadas.
