Resumo: Based on research developed in an interdisciplinary nature and using the oral history method, this article proposes to expand the understanding of the past of prostitution and bohemia in Diamantina-MG, having the Beco do Mota as a spatial landmark in the 1950s and 1960s. Based on interviews with people who had some relationship with the aforementioned place, perspectives are presented that compete, to some extent, with the hegemonic discourse at the time, documented in newspaper texts. The inclusion of these new perspectives creates possibilities to question the collective imagination regarding this urban space, as well as to tension narratives regarding the subjects that made it real.

Basado sobre entrevistas a personas que tuvieran alguna relación con el mencionado lugar, se presentan perspectivas que compiten, en cierta medida, con el discurso hegemónico vigente en la época, documentado en textos periodísticos. La inclusión de estas nuevas miradas abre posibilidades para cuestionar el imaginario colectivo en torno a este espacio urbano, así como para tensionar narrativas en torno de los sujetos que lo hicieron real.Com base em resultados de pesquisa interdisciplinar, embasada no método da história oral, este artigo propõe ampliar a compreensão acerca do passado de meretrício e de boemia em Diamantina-MG, tendo como marco espacial o Beco do Mota nas décadas de 1950 e 1960.  Os resultados das entrevistas com pessoas que tiveram alguma relação com esse lugar apontam para perspectivas que concorrem, em certa medida, com o discurso hegemônico vigente à época, documentado em textos de jornal.
