Resumo: | The purpose of this study was to compare the amount of apical leakage resulting from the use of the Obtura II device in three different manners. Lateral condensation was also evaluated. Maxillary single rooted teeth were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 was filled with a standard lateral condensation technique. Group 2 was filled with the Obtura II device in a single increment. Group 3 was filled with the Obtura II device in 4-5 mm. increments followed by vertical compaction. Group 4 was filled with the Obtura II device after fitting a standardized master gutta-percha point. Statistical analysis did not show any significant difference between any of the groups. However, great individual variance was observed in all groups. Group 3 (Obtura II with vertical compaction ) showed the least variability and most consistent results. |
