Productivity and environmental innovation: an analysis of the transformation industry in Minas Gerais

Resumo: Today's world seeks to use less and less materials to produce the same unit of wealth. However, the pressure on natural resources continues to increase due to the magnitude of production growth. In this scenario, the replacement or adaptation of current technological standards, aiming at environmental innovations, has become an alternative for sustainable growth. Market requirements and competitiveness among companies make the adoption of environmental principles a necessary condition for the survival of companies. The objective of the work was to analyze the productivity of the companies, which carried out environmental innovations, of the transformation industry of Minas Gerais in the period from 2000 to 2017. The results showed that companies in the manufacturing industry in Minas Gerais that carry out innovation with an environmental focus guaranteed increased productivity, with environmental regulation being one of the factors that also contributed to this increase when analyzing the levels of technological intensity.

Entretanto, a pressão sobre os recursos naturais continua crescendo devido à magnitude do crescimento da produção. Nesse cenário, a substituição ou adaptação de padrões tecnológicos atuais, visando as inovações ambientais, tornou-se uma alternativa para o crescimento sustentável. As exigências do mercado e a competitividade entre as empresas fazem com que a adoção de princípios ambientais torne-se condição necessária à sobrevivência das empresas. O trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a produtividade das empresas, que realizaram inovações ambientais, da indústria de transformação de Minas Gerais no período de 2000 a 2017.
