Editorial - Industrial Policy and Industry 4.0: the revival of the debate in a scenario of transformations in the techno-productive paradigm

Resumo: The debate on industrial policy and, in a broader view, on the pathways to overcome underdevelopment must be supported by an adequate understanding of the techno-productive conditions specific to each historical period. This editorial explores the links between the recent revival of the debate on industrial policy with the emergence of Industry 4.0 as well as the rise of China as a manufacturing powerhouse. An overall view of the evolution of this theme is presented, from the founding ideas of the classics of economic development to the most relevant contemporary formulations, to introduce and contextualize the contributions of the selected papers for this special section of the Brazilian Journal of Innovation.

Este editorial vincula la reciente revitalización del debate en torno a la política industrial con el surgimiento de la Industria 4.0 y China como potencia manufacturera. Se presenta una visión general de la evolución de este tema, a partir de las ideas fundadoras de los clásicos de desarrollo económico, a las formulaciones contemporáneas más relevantes, para introducir y contextualizar las contribuciones de los artículos que conforman esta sección especial de la Revista Brasileia de Innovación.As reflexões acerca da política industrial e, em termos mais amplos, dos caminhos para a superação do subdesenvolvimento devem estar apoiadas numa adequada compreensão dos condicionantes tecnoprodutivos característicos à cada período histórico. Este editorial relaciona o recente revigoramento do debate em torno da política industrial à emergência da Indústria 4.0 e da China como potência manufatureira.
