Resumo: The objective is to understand the perception of nursing professionals regarding institutional racism. This is an exploratory descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. The present study was developed in a municipality in the Northwest of the State of Paraná, exclusively at the Secretary of Health, in the Epidemiological Surveillance sector, the population was made up of nursing professionals in the sector, who are divided into different categories, among them nurses, nursing technicians and nursing assistants who were interviewed and later the interviews were transcribed and analyzed by Bardin's content analysis. Through the analysis of the results it was possible to highlight four different categories: Signifying institutional racism, Experiencing institutional racism, Knowledge about the comprehensive national health policy of the black population and Fichting institutional racism.

Trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva exploratória, com abordagem qualitativa. O presente estudo foi desenvolvido em um município do Noroeste do Estado do Paraná, exclusivamente na Secretária de Saúde, no setor de Vigilância Epidemiológica, a população foi constituída por profissionais de enfermagem do setor, os quais são divididos em diferentes categorias, dentre eles enfermeiros, técnicos de enfermagem e auxiliares de enfermagem que foram entrevistados e posteriormente as entrevistas foram transcritas e analisadas pela análise de conteúdo de Bardin.
