The research discusses how journalism can use tools related to media literacy to promote critical reading of information and content disseminated in traditional media and the internet. For this, an analysis of the method used by the information check robot "Fátima", from the check agency Aos Fatos, is performed. The objective is to discuss how new journalism projects, such as check agencies and bots, can act in the process of media literacy and help combat the disinformation and disqualification of journalism. The work is based on bibliographic research and documentary research to trace relationships between the theoretical concepts and the results obtained through the research. With the analysis, the work considers the robot “Fátima” as mediator of the process of media literacy in combat the disinformation and delegitimization of journalism. Artificial intelligence instigates the critical sense of the user and contributes to the formation of more responsible information consumers, which can assist in comprehension the role of the press in the process to inform.
