Resumo: Root canal treatment has as its main objective to conserve the tooth in the oral cavity. Aiming the success of this treatment, the appropriate access to the location of all root canals, the cleaning and the filling's root are essential. Conventional endodontics is the most reported in the literature, however minimally invasive endodontics has been studied as a more conservative way of performing this treatment. The purpose of this literature review is to compare the two endodontics techniques and which one is the most beneficial. Google Academic, Pubmed and books on the topic were the search sources where the corpus were found, including studies in English and Portuguese. This comparison was made at all stages of the procedure, concluding that conventional endodontics has more clinical successes when compared to minimally invasive endodontics, highlighting the need for further studies to prove real effectiveness.

Para o sucesso desse tratamento é imprescindível um acesso apropriado para a localização de todos os canais radiculares, limpeza e obturação radicular. A endodontia convencional é a mais relatada na literatura, no entanto a endodontia minimamente invasiva tem sido estudada como uma maneira mais conservadora de realizar esse tratamento. O objetivo dessa revisão de literatura é a comparação das duas técnicas endodônticas para averiguar qual traz mais benéficos. A busca de material para a revisão foi feita no Google Academic, Pubmed e em livros do tema, incluindo estudos em inglês e português.
