Resumo: Soil compaction is a common problem in most agricultural soils. It is known that many factors can influence the land depletion, making it degraded and less productive. Thus, considering the healthy soil importance for healthy plant growth,it is necessary to take measures in order to ease this situation. The aim of this work was to evaluate the degree of resistance to soil penetration (PR) in two conditions, in areas with and in areas with no terrace constructions, as well as to analyze if there was a reduction of PR influenced by the terraces. The experiment was carried out using the megaplot methodology and two megaplots were used for this work with two treatments, P1 (with terracing) and P2 ( without terracing). Each treatment had 34 points (repetitions) and each one was analyzed up to 60 cm of depth with the aid of the PenetroLog PLG 2040 penetrometer model, Falker brand. Later, the averages for the following soil depth layers were obtained (0 to 5,5 to 10,10 to 15,15 to 20,20 to 25,25 to 30,30 to 35,35 to 40,40 to 45,45 to 50,50 to 55 and 55 to 60). There was no difference between the treatments in most of the layers, but PR (penetration resistance) values above the critical limit for the 2,2MPa root growth were observed, especially in deeper layers of the soil.
