Nivel de conhecimento dos familiares de crianças com paralisia cerebral e sua interferencia no processo de tratamento

The cerebral palsy (CP) is defined as a set of postural and mobility disorders resulting from nonprogressive lesions, which occurred in the brain in a phase of structural and functional maturation. The child who performs some treatment program needs his or her mother to have clarification of both the pathology and the therapy instituted, so that during and after the treatment session she plays an important role not only in the basic care of the child, but also as a key piece during rehabilitation. Therefore, he objective of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge that family members with children with Cerebral Palsy had regarding thispathology. A survey was conducted on an observational and quantitative basis,through a questionnaire prepared by the researchers composed of 20 objective questions that were delivered to those responsible for 16 children who perform care at the physiotherapy clinic CentroSuit in the city of Maringá-Paraná. After collecting the questionnaires, an evaluation of the answers and tabulation of the data obtained through Excel tools was performed. Questions were addressed It was observed that the great majority of families had a good level of knowledge regarding the pathology and the different options of therapies that currently exist, including always seeking to keep themselves updated and that due to this knowledge families could actively act in the treatment process of their children.
