Although many professionals and patients do not know what dental prenatal is, it is relevant since it is an accompaniment of the pregnant to instruct about her buccal health. The unawareness of the dental prenatal’s relevance, the persistence of some myths related to dental attendance during gestation and the dental surgeons’ lack of preparation in perform this attendance makes that around 60% or more of the pregnant do not even go through a dental attendance during pregnancy. The gestational period wedded to the first two years of the child’s life is considered crucial to the childish growing and development, with repercussions in the individual’s adulthood. The pregnant compose a group of patient where the dental risk is temporary, due to the changes that may happen during the gestational period: psychological, physical and hormonal, which create adverse conditions in the buccal environment. Therefore the second gestation’s trimester the most indicated to perform the dental treatment, but if it happens an urgent case it may get attended in any gestational trimester, moreover, the radiographies must be done with the appropriate precautions. The dental treatment is extremely relevant, both to buccal health and to the systemic health, being indispensable the association between Odontology and Medicine essential during gestation.
