Poor life habits and the growth of the elderly population has resulted in the emergence of chronic non-communicable diseases, such as systemic arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. In this situation, the use of drugs for these comorbidities has been the subject of discussions due to possible drug interactions that offer significant risk to the individual, such as hypoglycemia and hypotension, and ineffectiveness in the treatment of the disease. The aim of this study is to detect the main antihypertensive and oral hypoglycemic drugs, to verify the severity of these drug interactions and the importance of guidance and monitoring of these patients. It will be a descriptive research, of quantitative analysis with emphasis on field research, in which data will be collected, through questionnaires, with patients from the area covered by Basic Health Units (UBS) in the city of Maringá-PR. The results demonstrate a frequency of 87% of respondents in pharmacological treatment for Systemic Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus concomitantly, the majority for at least five years. Considering the potential drug interactions among the drugs used by patients, they were identified from the Drug Interaction Checker database, associated with some studies, many of which are of moderate clinical relevance, and may enhance the effect of the other drug, which requires due attention to the prescription and orientation to patients, as for the administration of such drugs, in order to reduce adverse effects and improve the quality of life of these patients.
