Arterite Temporal: um relato de caso e revisão de literatura

Resumo: Temporal Arteritis, or Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA), is part of the complex group of vasculitis. It is a rare disease of harmful evolution and poor prognosis, which might be aggravated when not treated and handled properly. Such injury progresses with impairing clinical manifestations and unfavorable prognosis to those affected. The present study aims to describe in detail a case of Temporal Arteritis, showing its main signals and symptoms, complications, and best therapeutic options. Monitoring an advanced case of giant cell vasculitis, we have observed a significant clinical improvement after changing the medication approach. The administration of the immunobiological agent tocilizumab (Actemra) has shown to be highly effective in stabilizing the disease, leading to a progressive reduction of recurrences, and consequent improvement of systemic manifestations. Thus, it demonstrates to be useful, and safe for the treatment of GCA.

É uma doença rara, de evolução nefasta e mau prognóstico, que pode ser agravada quando não manejada e tratada corretamente. Tal injúria cursa com manifestações clínicas incapacitantes e de desfavorável prognóstico àqueles que são afetados. O objetivo do presente estudo é relatar detalhadamente um caso de Arterite Temporal, apresentando os principais sinais e sintomas, complicações e melhores opções terapêuticas. A partir do acompanhamento de um avançado caso de vasculite de células gigantes, observamos uma significativa melhora clínica após a alteração da conduta medicamentosa.
