Resumo: | Biomimetic dentistry comprises advanced adhesion techniques. A tooth restored with adhesive is better able to handle functional stresses. Therefore, the present work aimed to present the principles and techniques of biomimetics applied in minimally invasive dentistry, through a literature review. The methodology used was a literature search in Google Academic and PubMed databases, with a time frame from 1999 to 2021. The keywords used for the research were: “Biomimetic Dentistry”, “cavities”, “selective removal of decayed tissue”, “peripheral sealed zone”, “light curing”, “composite resin”, “Biomimetic dentistry”, “cavities”, “selective removal of decayed tissue”, “peripheral sealed zone”, “light curing”, “composite resin”. Articles in Portuguese and English that addressed the proposed theme were included. It was found that indirect restoration techniques such as inlay and onlay can be used in deep cavities. Among the steps of the restorative procedure, the use of adhesive systems for immediate dentin sealing stands out, with the aim of reducing microorganism infiltration and decreasing dentin sensitivity, and promoting the longevity of restorations. It was found that indirect restoration techniques such as inlay and onlay can be used in deep cavities. We concluded that biomimetic dentistry can be easily employed by clinicians in their offices, with promising results. |
