In July 2015, Brazil saw the face of one of the most dangerous men in Maringá. His killer profile left its mark on several families and for years intrigued the police because of the crimes he committed. The tower maniac, as he became nationally known, killed his victims, who were prostitutes and throw away their bodies as if they were just objects.The large number of deaths have attracted the attention of the press and especially the journalist named Roberto Silva, who compiled statistical data on homicides in the city. The police reporter brought the authorities a dossier with the name, location and profession of thirteen women who have been brutally murdered since 2001. The arrest of the maniac provoked the discussion of the notitia criminis. This institute present in our legal system, precedes the police investigation, and therefore, is of extreme relevance for criminal prosecution. Specifically linked to the case of the maniac, it is necessary to discuss the role of the press that can contribute with the judicial police to elucidate crimes
