Resumo: The chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a hematological neoplasm that consist in a myeloproliferative disorder and affects the hematopoietic stem cells. The treatment of choice is Imatinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. The research aimed to show how the medication used astreatment affectsthe life qualityofthe carrier patients.Due to the lackofstudiesthat analyzes the human side of this disease, this work has great importance so that there is a current source that containsreliable information for patients and society.An online questionnaire was applied in a Facebook group “Vivendo com LMC” via Google Forms getting 139 answers, that being, 139 participating patients. The obtained information is an exploration ofthe human side ofthis condition and emphases how the medication can undermine the everyday life of the carrier patients. With this work was possible to conclude that the evaluation of the life quality of the CML patientsis extremely importantsince there is a lack ofstudiesthat approachesthe human sideofthisdisease and the pharmacologicaltreatment, contributingto the better comprehension of the pathophysiology ofthe CML and your treatment.

O tratamento de escolha é o mesilato de imatinibe, cujo mecanismo de ação está fundamentado na inibição da proteína tirosina-quinase. Diante disso, este presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o impacto do mesilato de imatinibe, utilizado para o tratamento da LMC, na qualidade de vida de pacientes portadores da doença. Devido à deficiência dos estudos que analisam o lado humano dessa patologia, este trabalho é de grande relevância para que exista uma fonte científica e atual, com informações confiáveis para os pacientes e para a sociedade. Para tanto, foi realizado uma pesquisa na qual foi aplicado um questionário on-line em grupo do Facebook chamado “Vivendo com LMC”, por meio do Google Forms, com um total de 139 respostas, ou seja, 139 pacientes participantes, sendo asinformações obtidas a partir de uma exploração de umaparte mais humana dessa condição, voltada para o cotidiano do portador, enfatizando como a medicação pode debilitá-lo.
