With high rates of work accidents in civil construction, there was a need for companies in the sector to take the measures to protect the lives and integrity of employees. The management of Safety and Health at Work is presented as an effective tool that prevents and considerably reduces the severity of work accidents in civil construction. Therefore, this work presents, according to a bibliographic review, approaches that recognize the main evidences that cause so many accidents at the construction site, as well as addresses the Regulatory Norm Nº 18 - NR 18, which establishes norms and guidelines for work safety in the construction industry. Then we carried out the study of reports of occurrences of accidents and incidents that happened in three constructions of approximately twenty floors, in a construction company, located in the state of Paraná from January to June 2022, verifying the possible causes of the occurrences and regulatory standards in which they were allegedly infringed, seeking to understand what are the main causes of work accidents in civil construction and what impacts regulatory standards, especially NR-18, have on the construction site. The study presents a total of fifteen occurrences.
