This study aims to understand the feelings that motivate parents and caregivers to seek pediatric care in the urgency and emergency network. This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study, whose collection took place in July 2022, through semi-structured interviews, with questions related to the emotions that motivated parents and caregivers to seek care in the Pediatric Emergency Care Unit. Content analysis was performed by Bardin and the results were organized into three thematic nuclei: Feelings presented in the face of child’s illness; Main symptoms; Limit of caring. Fear and concem were very frequent in the speeches. It was found that the emotions of the parents and caregivers are fundamental in the decision-making process regarding the use of health services. Therefore, those responsible chose to seek the urgency and emergency service, even for the child who had symptoms that could be solved with assistance in primary care
