Cosmetic dentistry has gained great prominence in recent years, mainly due to contact lenses, which have become the dream of many people in search of the ideal smile, an influence that came from social media. The advance in dentistry with research and practical applications has been something recurrent that has innovated and achieved less invasive, efficient methods that bring great results to patients. However, although some studies have resulted in great success in the procedure, problems related to preparation, adaptation and satisfaction have been emerging, and with this the need for a deeper analysis of the indiscriminate indication of this procedure, always aiming at success in the installation of facets, functionality, maximum preservation of the remaining structure, self-esteem and safety, which lead the patient not only to have satisfaction with the procedure performed, but also generate a positive result in the quality of life of the same and directly impacting oral health. Currently, the most used method to remove ceramic veneers is the use of diamond tips and carbide drills, the issue is that it requires a great expertise from the professional to not wear excessively on the remaining teeth, as it has been used and studied the application of high power lasers, for example the Er/YAG laser (erbium, yttrium, aluminium, garnet) for the removal of laminates, generating minimal wear of the remaining tooth.
