Resumo: Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome is one of the most common chronic kidney diseases in children. It is characterized by selective proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia, hyperlipidemia, and edema. Living with the disease can compromise the quality of life of the child/adolescent and the family. The objective of this study is to understand the experience of parents of children and adolescents with nephrotic syndrome. This is a descriptive exploratory research with a qualitative approach. The study subjects were parents of children and adolescents who were followed up at a specialized kidney disease clinic. The interview was conducted guided by an instrument composed of identification data and guiding questions. With the authorization of the collaborators, the interviews were recorded and later transcribed in full, guaranteeing the fidelity of the testimonies. After transcribing the speeches, they were meditated, categorized and analyzed using Bardin's content analysis method. It is hoped that with this study, health professionals can better understand the condition in which these people live and thus plan coping strategies.

Ela é caracterizada por proteinúria seletiva, hipoalbuminemia, hiperlipidemia e edema. Conviver com a doença pode comprometer a qualidade de vida da criança/adolescente e da família. O objetivo deste estudo é compreender a experiência de pais de crianças e adolescentes com síndrome nefrótica. Trata-se de uma pesquisa do tipo descritiva exploratória com abordagem qualitativa. Os sujeitos do estudo foram pais de crianças e adolescentes que fazem acompanhamento em um consultório especializado em doenças renais. Foi realizada a entrevista orientada por um instrumento composto de dados de identificação e questões norteadoras. Perante a autorização dos colaboradores as entrevistas foram gravadas e posteriormente transcritas na íntegra, garantindo fidelidade dos depoimentos. Depois da transcrição das falas, as mesmas foram meditadas, categorizadas e analisadas pelo método de análise de conteúdo de Bardin.
