Heat exchangers are equipment widely used in industries. Among the many possibilities for this type of equipment, the hull and tube changers are the most versatile due to the advantages they present as manufacturing, costs, and especially, thermal performance. The growing concern of the industry to improve its processes, minimize costs and make rational use of energy serves as a particular motivation for optimizing the design of this equipment. A hull and tube heat exchanger for oil cooling will be designed. To make this thermal exchange, water at room temperature will be used. In this work, project calculations will be developed, with fluid flow variations, and temperature variations already defined for existing equipment, the efficiency of the thermal exchange between fluids, mechanical design according to the equipment standards. At the end of the work, a comparison of the results obtained will be made between the existing heat exchanger and the projected heat exchanger.
