Resumo: The prevalence of obesity is on the rise, and it is considered a major public health problem affecting people of all age groups; contributing to the onset of various cardiovascular problems and Metabolic Syndrome. In view of this, this study is aimed at identifying the prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome and its relationship to adolescent obesity, correlating it with indicators of body composition, and finding prevention and treatment strategies. This is a bibliographic review study, containing articles from 2010 to 2020. The search was carried out through the Bireme, Medline, Pubmed and Scielo databases. Out of the 36 articles initially found, 22 were included in this study based on an analysis of the title and summary. This study concluded that obesity is an important risk factor for Metabolic Syndrome. Adequate food and physical activity was found to be not only the main means of prevention but also a means of treatment. Still, more studies are needed, due to the impossibility of early diagnosis in view of the divergences in the literature for adolescents.
