Brazilian social programs and their relashionship with poverty, inequality and development

Resumo: | This research aimed to study how Brazilian social programs have impacted on poverty, income inequality and development in the period 2004-2007. First, principal component of factorial analysis was used to find the Index of Economic Underdevelopment, Index of Income Concentration and Index of Immunization. After that, a panel analysis was applied. The results had shown that Bolsa Família, Cartão Alimentação and PAIF programs had positive effects on the Index of Economic Underdevelopment. With respect to the Index of Income Concentration, neither program show significant effects. Finally, Auxílio Gás, Bolsa Alimentação and Bolsa Família programs had improved the Index of Immunization. Thus, it was verified that some socials programs had fulfilled its purpose and justified the increasing resources of Brazilian government in this kind of politics. On the other hand, some programs had contributed only marginally with the indicators improve. |

Para tanto, neste artigo foi utilizada a abordagem de componentes principais da análise fatorial na construção dos Índices de Subdesenvolvimento Econômico, Concentração de Renda e; Cobertura Vacinal. De posse destes, realizou-se uma análise em painel, cujos resultados indicaram que, para o Índice de Subdesenvolvimento Econômico, o Bolsa Família, o Cartão Alimentação e o PAIF, tiveram efeitos positivos e, considerando o montante aplicado no PBF, este é o que mais impacta nos indicadores de desenvolvimento econômico. Já para o Índice de Concentração de Renda, os programas analisados não apresentaram efeitos relevantes. Por outro lado, o Auxílio Gás, o Bolsa Alimentação e o Bolsa Família contribuem para a melhoria da Cobertura Vacinal.
