CONTRIBUTION OF NATIVE FLORA IN HANDICRAFT PRODUCED BY URBAN INDIANS IN THE AMAZON

Resumo: Ethnobotany studies the relationship between the human population and the plants in the places where they live, seeking the preservation of the generated knowledge. The objective of the study was to conduct an ethnobotanical survey to identify the botanical species used in the making of handicrafts by indigenous residents in the city of Altamira. The present research was based on observation and registration of the seeds used by the Indians of the Center for Cultural Strengthening of the Indigenous Peoples Xipaya, Kuruaya and Juruna. The most frequent use of 19 species for handicrafts was observed. The species are native to the Amazon contribute to the (re) significance of the culture of the ethnicities involved in the present study.Keywords: ethnobotany; seeds; Amazon.

O objetivo do estudo foi realizar um levantamento etnobotânico para identificar as espécies botânicas utilizadas na confecção de peças artesanais por indígenas residentes na cidade de Altamira. A presente pesquisa baseou-se em observação e registro das sementes utilizadas pelos indígenas do Centro de Fortalecimento Cultural dos Povos Indígenas Xipaya, Kuruaya e Juruna. Observou-se a utilização mais frequente de 19 espécies para confecção de artesanato.
