Resumo: This study verified the reproductive aspects of Leporinus piau (Fowler, 1941) and the environmental variables of the reservoir Marechal Dutra, RN. All captured fish were measured individually and the total length, body and gonad weights were registered. The concentration of dissolved oxygen, pH, electrical conductivity, water temperature and rainfall data were recorded. The average rainfall was 86.5 ± 94.4 mm. The average water temperature was 27 ± 2.2 °C, the average concentration of dissolved oxygen was 6.5 ± 1.4 mgL-1, the average pH was 8.3 ± 0.4 and the average value of the electrical conductivity was 585 ± 29.1 μScm-1.A total of 106 specimes of L. piau were captured, out of which 45 males and 61 females. The sex ratio was 1M:1F. The average length of females was 25.6 ± 3.1cm, and the males was 23 ± 2.3cm. The average weight for the females ranged was 256.5 ± 104.6 g for males and was 178.2 ± 62.9g. The stages ranged from immature, maturing, mature and spent. The monthly changes in GSI of males and females were similar, with low values in September and October, and high values from December to January, followed by lower values from March to May. The condition factor for both sexes showed high in the period from September to November. The reproductive period of L. piau occurs during the period of rain. Keywords: piau; Leporinus piau; reproductive period; gonadosomatic index; Caatinga

Universidade Federal do AmapáCNPqFilho, José Júlio SilvaNascimento, Wallace SilvaAraújo, Andréa SoaresBarros, Nirlei Hirachy CostaChellappa, Sathyabama2012-07-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigo Avaliado pelos Paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/41110.18561/2179-5746/biotaamazonia.v2n1p10-21Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota); v. 2, n. 1 (2012); 10-212179-5746reponame:Biota Amazôniainstname:Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)instacron:UNIFAPporhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/411/v2n1p10-21.pdfhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/downloadSuppFile/411/51Direitos autorais 2012 Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota)http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2016-04-18T20:33:22Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/411Revistahttp://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biotaONGhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/oai||juliosa@unifap.br2179-57462179-5746opendoar:2016-04-18T20:33:22Biota Amazônia - Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)false
