SEROLOGY FOR ARBOVIRUSES IN THE HUMAN POPULATION OF THE REGION OF THE EXTRACTIVE RESERVE OF CAJARI, AMAPA, BRAZIL

Resumo: A serological survey has been done during septembre-october 1995 in an extrativist reserve in River Cajari region, Amapá State. 306 human sera were tested by IH against 19 arboviruses or groups. 154 (50,3%) sera 74 of 120 farmers, 42 to 86 maids and servants, and 22 of 75 students were positive, respectively. Antibodies against Mayaro (53 or 17,3%) Yellow Fever (24 or 7,8%) and Oropouche (8 or 2,6%) were the most prevalent. These findings showed the high incidence of arboviruses in forested areas of Amapa State and frequent contact between the surveyed human population and sylvatic cycles of transmission.Keyswords: Antibody; Investigation; Serologic; RESEX Cajari.

These findings showed the high incidence of arboviruses in forested areas of Amapa State and frequent contact between the surveyed human population and sylvatic cycles of transmission.Keyswords: Antibody; Investigation; Serologic; RESEX Cajari.Foi realizado no período de setembro a outubro de 1995 um inquérito sorológico para pesquisa de anticorpos inibidores de hemaglutinação (IH) de 19 arbovírus em grupos de pessoas residentes na Reserva Extrativista do rio Cajari, no ambiente silvestre. De um total de 306 soros analisados, 154 (50,3%) reagiram com um ou mais antígenos de arbovírus. Verificou-se a presença de anticorpos em proporções significativas, tais como Mayaro 53 (17,3%), Febre Amarela 24 (7,8%) e Oropouche 8 (2,6%), mostrando evidências de infecções pregressas deste arbovírus. A população foi agrupada por profissão, sendo que três destacaram-se: Extrativistas e Agricultores, de 120 soros analisados, 74 deram positivo, seguidos pelas domésticas, 86 testados, 42 positivos e estudantes, 75 analisados, 22 positivos.
