Resumo: The present study deals with a survey of fish faunal composition and analyzes of the length-weight relationships of fish species captured from the Jiqui lake, Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The period of collection extended from September of 2011 to February of 2012, and during this period 71 fish samples were captured. They were studied in relation to taxonomic identification of fish species and analyses of relationships between total length-weight. The fish species belonged to three orders (Siluriformes, Characiformes e Perciformes), six families (Auchenipteridae, Anostomidae, Characidae, Erythrinidae, Loricariidae e Centropomidae) and six species. Among the species captured, Trachelyopterus galeatus, were 19 (26.8%), Leporinus piau 16 (22.5%), Metynnis roosevelti 14 (19.7%), Hoplias malabaricus 12 (16.9%), Hypostomus pusarum 9 (12.7%), and Centropomus parallelus 1 (1.4%), all of which were native fishes. The fish samples varied in total weight from 25.0 to 632.0 grams with a mean of 184,4 g (± 152.3), and total length of 10.5 to 39.0 cm with a mean of 21.6 cm (± 7.3). Based on the relative frequency of occurrence of the six fish species, five were considered as constants and one rare, which was Centropomus parallelus. Keywords: Ichthyofauna; length-weight relationship; native species, relative frequency, Jiqui Lake of Rio Grande do Norte.

Palavras-chave: Ictiofauna; relação peso-comprimento; espécies nativas, frequência relativa; Lagoa do Jiqui, Rio Grande do Norte.  Universidade Federal do AmapáCNPqMorais, Ana Lígia de SouzaPessoa, Emilly Kataline RodriguesChellappa, SathyabamaChellappa, Naithirithi Tiruvenkatachary2012-07-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigo Avaliado pelos Paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/45010.18561/2179-5746/biotaamazonia.v2n1p51-58Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota); v. 2, n. 1 (2012); 51-582179-5746reponame:Biota Amazôniainstname:Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)instacron:UNIFAPporhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/450/v2n1p51-58.pdfDireitos autorais 2012 Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota)http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2016-04-18T20:33:22Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/450Revistahttp://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biotaONGhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/oai||juliosa@unifap.br2179-57462179-5746opendoar:2016-04-18T20:33:22Biota Amazônia - Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)false
