Resumo: In the Amazon rainforest, the açaizeiro (Euterpe oleracea, Mart.) Stands out as being the most used palm of this estuary, both in fruits and in genera derived from the plant. The fruit, raw material to obtain the juice of açaí, symbolic drink of the state of Pará, is the main product coming from the palm tree. Brazil is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of this product. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse belonging to Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, from September to November 2015. The water deficit for sixteen days resulted in considerable changes in the maintenance of turgescence and plant growth. The study revealed that the 16-day water deficit in acaizeiro plants promoted an increase in the concentrations of sucrose, total soluble carbohydrates, proline and glycine-betaine, these osmoregulators that maintained the water status in the leaves of the plants. Keywords: Amazon; açaí; water stress; osmoregulation.

Universidade Federal do AmapáCNPqCordeiro, Yvens Ely MartinsTavares, Francinei Bentesde Sousa Nascimento, Afonso WellitonPena, Heriberto Wagner Amanajás2017-09-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigo Avaliado pelos Paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/181410.18561/2179-5746/biotaamazonia.v7n3p52-56Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota); v. 7, n. 3 (2017); 52-562179-5746reponame:Biota Amazôniainstname:Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)instacron:UNIFAPporhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/1814/v7n3p52-56.pdfAmazônia;Paráaçai; estresse hídrico; osmorreguladores.Direitos autorais 2017 Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota)http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2018-05-04T19:01:36Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/1814Revistahttp://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biotaONGhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/oai||juliosa@unifap.br2179-57462179-5746opendoar:2018-05-04T19:01:36Biota Amazônia - Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)false
