Resumo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir o nascimento da União Blumenauense de Estudantes – UBE, bem como uma de suas principais reivindicações, que era o ensino superior na cidade de Blumenau, e o entendimento estudantil manifestado nos artigos do jornal “O Estudante” sobre o comunismo. É importante lembrar que as décadas de 1950 e 1960, contempladas neste artigo viviam o mundo pós-Segunda Guerra Mundial, sendo assim, a ideologia comunista figurava no cenário mundial como oposição ao capitalismo americano, este apoiado pelos militares que implantaram a Ditadura Militar no Brasil, em 1964, com o apoio estadunidense. Essas influências ideológicas estão presentes nas publicações da UBE, e serão debatidas neste trabalho.
