Baghdad's batterie and the south and northern epistemologies: a narrative review

Resumo: The present work aims to present a narrative review of the Epistemologies of the North and the Epistemologies of the South, referring to the authorship of the discovery of the electric cell, based on the proposals presented by the Portuguese sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos in his text entitled “A discourse on the sciences in the transition to a postmodern science ”(Santos, 1988) and in his video discourse posted on the YouTube website (Santos, 2016). As a starting point for these notes by Boaventura Santos, it is clear that the dominant Northern Epistemology does not allow Southern Epistemology to stand out and materialize. To corroborate this statement, we present academic and scientific works that value only Northern Epistemology, denying the existence of Southern Epistemology, as well as works that present the existence of Southern Epistemology without giving its real value, and finally, a work that presents the Epistemology of the South as something concretized and with scientific evidence. The review found that the reflection and discussion of existing knowledge in Southern Epistemologies can contribute to Science Education that focuses on the formation of more reflective citizens, with more active attitudes in society, and actively contribute to social transformation, so that Epistemologies of the South are featured in teaching practices carried out in Brazilian classrooms.

Como punto de partida para estas notas de Boaventura Santos, está claro que la Epistemología del Norte dominante no permite que la Epistemología del Sur se destaque y se materialice. Para corroborar esta afirmación, presentamos trabajos académicos y científicos que valoran solo la Epistemología del Norte, negando la existencia de la Epistemología del Sur, así como trabajos que presentan la existencia de la Epistemología del Sur sin dar su valor real, y finalmente, un trabajo que presenta la epistemología del sur como algo concretado y con evidencia científica. La revisión encontró que la reflexión y discusión del conocimiento existente en Epistemologías del Sur puede contribuir a la Educación en Ciencias que se enfoca en la formación de ciudadanos más reflexivos, con actitudes más activas en la sociedad, y contribuye activamente a la transformación social, de modo que Las epistemologías del sur se presentan en las prácticas de enseñanza realizadas en las aulas brasileñas.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo expor uma revisão narrativa das Epistemologias do Norte e as Epistemologias do Sul, referente à autoria da descoberta da pilha elétrica, pautada nas propostas apontadas pelo sociólogo português Boaventura de Sousa Santos em seu texto intitulado “Um discurso sobre as ciências na transição para uma ciência pós-moderna” (Santos, 1988) e em seu discurso em vídeo postado no site do YouTube (Santos, 2016). Como ponto de partida desses apontamentos de Boaventura Santos, percebe-se que a Epistemologia do Norte dominante, não permite que a Epistemologia do Sul se destaque e se concretize. Para corroborar com esta afirmativa indicamos trabalhos acadêmicos e científicos que valorizam apenas a Epistemologia do Norte, negando a existência da Epistemologia do Sul, assim como trabalhos que expõem a existência da Epistemologia do Sul sem dar seu real valor, e por fim, um trabalho que apresenta a Epistemologia do Sul como algo concretizado e com evidências científicas.
